The Energy Shield

The energy shield is a basic protection spell that does not require anything more than a few minutes of focused attention to achieve and yet it provides powerful protection in a variety of situations and can be adapted to more specific needs.

The Basic Shield

Intention: To create a shield of protection around a person, place, or thing to prevent harmful energies from intruding upon them.

1. Achieve a relaxed and meditative state.
2. Visualize the individual, location, or object you wish to protect. You may use a photo if you need to. Or, if the subject is present, just gaze upon them.
3. Visualize a bright protective light of sizzling energy surrounding this person. Many people like to visualize a bubble or an egg shape, but I am fond of a diamond shape with lines connecting the four cardinal directions as well as above and below to create a sort of energetic cage around the person. Know as you visualize this energy that it burns brighter than anyone else’s intent to bring harm and that all efforts or even desire to harm the subject will be burned away on this energy like a bug on a zapper.
4. Hold this visualization until you feel it is firmly set. Then have a drink of water and ground and center.
5. Check in on your shield periodically and repeat as often as feels necessary.

Remember, this isn’t meant to harm anyone. It is the negative energy that gets zapped, not the person.

Variations on the Shield

This shield spell can be varied in a number of ways. This is but a short list. You are limited only by your imagination.

The Mirror Shield

Intention: To send return negative energy back to the sender.

I rarely feel the need to use this one, but sometimes people are persistent, and ignoring them isn’t enough.

Perform the basic shield visualization as above but in step 3, visualize each wall of the shield as a reflective mirror instead of bright energy.

The Spikey Shield

Intention: To prevent people from approaching you for any reason.

I use this shield quite often to prevent people from approaching me. It’s not that I’m antisocial, but I am very distracted and sometimes I just need to get in and out of the store without gossip. And sometimes I just don’t have the spoons for it and wouldn’t have left the house if I had a choice. And sometimes I just want to read a book on a park bench without being interrupted. Headphones aren’t enough. Sometimes you need spikes. Don’t put on the spikes and expect customer service or kindness from strangers. They will avoid you like the plague. I have never put spikes on anyone except myself. It would probably be unkind.

Just like the basic shield, but put the nastiest looking iron spikes you can visualize on it, pointing in every direction. Or porcupine spines if that’s the mood you’re in.

The Invisibility Shield

Intention: To prevent people from noticing the target.

No, this doesn’t really make things invisible. It simply makes them difficult to notice. Do be careful with it. I shielded my house this way and nobody could ever find it who didn’t already know where it was. I got no trick-or-treaters, the neighbors got half my mail and I had to stand in my driveway to wave people in when they came to visit the first time.
