This book is a series of letters written by a teacher of Wiccan-style Hedge Witchery to her students in the 1980s. It defines a Hedge Witch as one who works outside a coven, not according to the modern definition though there is quite a bit of trance work in it. It is heavy on religion and on the inaccurate Burning Times “history” that I choose to call mythology instead. There is lots of Maiden/Mother/ Crone and Young God and Old God. That all being said, it is a very detailed description of Wiccan-style ritual, the Wheel of the Year, Esbat and Sabbat rituals, and more. It is all very clear with a defined structure and examples. You could absolutely build a practice on this if religious witchcraft is your thing.

If you are interested in incorporating the Goddess and the God into your practice then this is absolutely an excellent resource. I would say it is perhaps a “must-have”, especially for beginners. It would also be useful for those interested in trance work. If this isn’t your bag, this isn’t your book.
