New Moon in Gemini

As summer approaches, the new moon in Gemini brings with it the anticipation of outdoor gatherings, music festivals, county fairs, and farmers markets. Gemini is about gathering, sharing ideas, and forming connections. Therefore, the new moon in Gemini is a great time to set intentions to grow your networks, find a social club or increase your social activism. It’s also a good time to start that book you’ve been meaning to write or to launch a media campaign.

Getting Started with the New Moon

The New Moon does not receive as much attention as the Full Moon, but it is the finest time for setting intentions for the month. The waxing moon provides excellent energy for magick related to drawing, expanding and growing.

To begin the month with a clean slate from which to grow, spend some time cleaning your space. You don’t need to clean the whole house if you don’t want to, but you should clean your ritual space or altar. Give it a good dusting and wipe down your statues, launder your altar cloth, shake out the rug, dispose of old spell components, set up some new candles and/or incense and a freshly scrubbed offering bowl. Or whatever is appropriate to your space and situation. Once your space is physically clean, you may wish to do a more energetic cleansing as well.

Cleaning your space on the new moon symbolically clears away the past and makes way for your new beginnings and intentions for the month.

The Magick of Gemini

Gemini energy is the energy of connection and communication. It is about those relationships that broaden your mind and allow you to grow intellectually. Teachers, debate partners, study groups, book clubs, activist organizations, academic clubs; even self-help groups and business organizations, either online or in person, all resonate with the energy of Gemini.

Emotions do not come into play much with Gemini, but you can use the energy of the day to help you examine emotional issues with a clearer, more analytic eye. As such, this is a great time to settle disputes without feelings getting in the way of fairness.

Gemini energy doesn’t care much about romantic relationships, but if you are looking for love, there is no better place to meet a potential partner than among other like-minded people. There is a lot of dating advice about that focuses on playing with peoples’ emotions, manipulating or deceiving them; but true connections can be made on an intellectual level today and good relationships and great sex comes from honest connection. Not everyone you connect with on a mental level is going to want to make out with you, but when someone does, it is going to be fabulous. Listening and sharing, and honest expression make for deeper connections and better relationships all around.

And right now, with both the moon and the sun lined up in Gemini, the energy around us is primed for those mental connections.

Mundane Connections

This new moon, even if you don’t decide to do a formal ritual or spell work, take stock of your network. Is there anyone you just can’t see eye to eye with? This might be a good time to see if you can find some common ground. Have you been thinking about a new writing or streaming project? Now is the time to get started.

Gemini’s energy is that of Mercury which rules exchanges of information and goods. So if you’re thinking about setting up a shop this might be a good time lay the foundations. Or take some time to connect with the businesses that already exist in your neighborhood. Just walk around and stop in the mom and pop shops you stroll by to see what they have to offer. Greet the locals, grab a business card, exchange information, network.

Mercury likes truths. So be prepared for some revelations, especially from or about folks whose sun and/or moon is in a mutable sign (Gemini, Pisces. Virgo, Sagittarius). If they’re lucky, they will quietly realize things about themselves or within their personal relationships without a lot of drama. But we Geminis do love to gossip.
