The moon waxes once more into Gemini on December 4th. This is a good time to think about the messages we receive and the messages we have for the world. The energy of Gemini is the energy of communication and there is no communication without clarity. Sometimes when I’m trying to communicate, it’s as if we are not even speaking the same language. The vibrant energy of this full moon gives invites us to do something about that.
Listen and Learn
Now is a good time to examine our own communication styles. We should determine if there is anything we are doing to sabotage our own efforts. Let the light of that big old Gemini moon shine into your heart. Consider not just what you are hearing; reflect on how you are interpreting it. The words of others filter through our own self-talk, prejudices, and concerns. But these are ours and no one else’s. It never pays to assume that someone else’s motives are the same as yours. It pays to ask.
Most of us, myself included, spend much of any conversation trying to figure out what to say next. We filter through our mental files for some relevant response to what is being said. Some fact to add. Some similar experience to share. It is polite to keep the conversation going but if the goal is conversation rather than communication, important messages can get lost. Instead of trying to be a good conversationalist, learn to be a good listener.
As the speaker goes through their narrative, think of questions to get more information about their perspective. Be curious. Encourage them to continue with statements like “How did you end up there?” or “How did you find that out?” or “How ever did you get out of that situation?” instead of “That reminds me of the time I did a similar thing.” or “I heard that this other thing is also true.”.
Ask Questions
Remember, there are no stupid questions. Everyone begins from a place of ignorance. Everyone. Some folks seem to believe that it’s just natural to know how to do things and why some things are important- but it’s not. If you don’t understand something or are simply curious about something new, ask.
For questions of a magical nature, you are invited to ask on our Discord forum or in our Facebook group. These are judgment-free zones.
I am not a social butterfly. I am very anxious in social situations, especially with my family- because they matter. I often find myself trying to explain something only to be sidetracked by someone else’s thing. Or encouraged to backpedal when someone voices an unexpected opinion about my subject. On the other hand, I might get so warmed up to a subject that I will go off on a long tangent and wonder later if the person I was lecturing ever actually told me what they called me to say. I want to understand, and I want to be heard. I am the only person I can control. So it is up to me to listen actively, ask questions and advocate for my own voice.

Create a Clari-tea Blend
There is no better way to clear the air than by sharing a cup of tea. Mixing your own blend of herbs that support clarity and communication is a great way to support your efforts. Herbs ruled by the planet Mercury support clarity and communication and there are many tasty options to add to your personal Clear Communication Tea Blend. I’ll share some at the end of this article, but first, I want to talk about making the blend itself.
First, Source your Herbs
Growing your own herbs is always best and if you’ve got fresh herbs in your garden or dried or frozen herbs from this year’s harvest, you can use those. If not, there are a number of quality sources of dried herbs. You may have a local herb shop, or you may need to find one online at https://mountainroseherbs.com/ or https://www.starwest-botanicals.com/
If you are interested in growing your own herbs for your tea blends, you can find just about anything you need at Botanicalinterests.com or https://strictlymedicinalseeds.com/
Choose Mercury or Air herbs to support your intention, but don’t forget about taste! You should enjoy drinking this tea and so should our loved ones!
Prepare Your Herbs with Intention
Once you’ve gathered your ingredients, spend some time getting to know them. Touch them, smell them, taste them on their own. Place a leaf on your tongue and just let it rest there for a few minutes as you breathe past it. Steep a spoonful of each herb in a cup of boiling water by itself. Inhale the steam. Taste the simple brew. How does it make you feel? Think about why you’ve chosen this ingredient for this tea blend and how the flavor will mix with the others. Check the bottom of the cup for messages.
Charge or program each herb by declaring what their purpose is in the blend as you prepare each. Once they are combined, tell the finished product what it’s for.
And since we’ve got that big ole’ Gemini moon out there, Place that jar out in the moon’s light to gather in all that lovely clear communication energy.
Finally, Drink Your Tea
Steep 2 tsp tea blend to 1 cup water for five minutes, then strain and drink. It is best if everyone involved in the conversation is served from the same spot, rather than with individual tea strainers in individual cups.
I like to use a French press for loose tea blends, but you can use a teapot or a tea strainer of your choice. You can sweeten your tea with honey to sweeten your words.
Herbs for Clear Communication
Herbs that resonate with the planet Mercury and/or the element of Air are ideal for communication work. Here are some examples.
Mint is a refreshing addition to your tea to help clear the air. Its energy also helps strengthen bonds so you can clear the air without burning bridges.
Lemon Balm‘s lemony flavor is refreshing and relaxing. It helps ease social anxieties.
Anise Hyssop encourages open communication. It tastes a bit like licorice, but a bit more complex and adds a natural sweetness. It also helps clear the throat and chest for a more mechanical aid to speaking.
Monarda or Bee Balm helps keep emotions on an even keel and strengthens interpersonal bonds.
Lavender helps create a safe space for honest communication. Its flavor is light and floral, but don’t add too much or it starts to taste soapy.
Fennel has a light licorice flavor and adds gravitas and eloquence to your words. Use it when you especially need to be heard.
