The Zodiac is a region of sky that follows the ecliptic- the apparent path through the sky that the Sun takes as viewed from Earth. It is divided into 12 sections, which we refer to as zodiac signs. These include Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces.

The English word zodiac derives from the Latin zōdiacus which in turn derives from the Greek ζῳδιακός meaning “Of or relating to little animals”
